Friends for God

Loving the person next to you isn’t just about having a good feeling toward that person or these people. It is about finding ways to “engage for Jesus,” displaying love in tangible ways that make a difference.

To think creatively about how mingling might help in making friends for God.

Collect some magazines and sort through them, cutting out pictures of people, places, and things that represent where believers might meet seekers—where you might meet someone to whom you could display God’s love. Then take the cut-out pictures and make a poster or collage that reflects what you’ve discovered. Once you have finished the poster or collage, display it where you do your daily devotions to remind yourself to be open to all the ways God might call you to be friendly and loving to those you meet each day.

This same exercise may be done digitally. Rather than physically going through printed magazines and using scissors, you could browse through images online, copy and modify them in various ways, and make and print a poster or collage.*
